Cork City rising – Planning permission granted for 1325 apartments and duplex’s in Cork Docklands

The largest regeneration project in Ireland, Cork City Docklands received its latest planning progression in the form of 1325 units applied for by O’Callaghan Properties (OCP). The ten year planning permission will see a mix of apartments and duplex’s at the developing docklands area, part of a wider plan to deliver up to 20000 residential units.

O’Callaghan Properties have already successfully delivered navigation sq in the docklands area

Managing director of O’Callaghan Properties (OCP), Brian O’Callaghan, said “It will add substantially to the economic, social and cultural life of the area and Cork in general”.

It was highlighted when planning was made that the development was “an exemplar” for the 15-minute city, as it will be ‘highly sustainable and served by efficient public transport’. As many as 1400 long stay bike parking spaces will be provided in a development that will be car free and see 40% of its footprint given over to public open space.
