University College Cork named among worlds top universities for 25 subjects

University College Cork has been named one of the world’s top universities for the study of 25 subjects in the latest rankings by QS World University Subject rankings. 

Subjects like Nursing (33), Law (59), Agriculture and Forestry (61), Pharmacy and Pharmacology (99), Anatomy and Physiology (51-100) all placed in the top 50 and top 100 in the world, representing the availability of exceptional academic opportunities.

Additional subjects close to the top 100 were Performing Arts, English Language, Modern languages and Medicine, taking the total subjects in the top 200 to nine.  It represents a ringing endorsement of the Universities academic credentials, which were highlighted when UCC placed an impressive 62nd out of 1406 global universities in the latest global impact ranking produced by Times Higher Education. 

This represents at top 4.5% placement among global Universities based on impact. The evidence-based ranking system examines the impact the university is having through the prism of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The University was founded in 1845 as one of three ‘Queens Colleges, the other two located in Belfast and Galway.  It became University College Cork in 1908.
