Semiconductor success continues as Qualcomm Technologies grow in Cork
Cork is home to several successful semiconductor firms and little wonder when Ireland was named the ‘location of choice’ for semiconductor business by EPS news. Few have seen more success than Qualcomm Technologies, the California company who has made Cork its home for ten successful years.
The firm announced a major €127 million expansion, increasing its footprint and employment by 150 new roles. As many as 100 of these will be roles for highly skilled engineers, the type of resource Cork is famous for thanks to its 10000 annual STEM graduates from its two major universities.
The roles will see an expansion of the firms research and development team at their city centre Penrose Dock location, a striking office development part of the cities new docklands area. The Cork Docklands project is one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe, bringing A-rated office, residential and supporting amenities within walking distance of the city centre.
