Another major cybersecurity firm “Forescout” to open European base in Cork

One of the world’s leading cybersecurity firms is to open its European Operations Centre in Cork City, with office space already found and the hiring of new talent begun.

Forescout, one of the most dynamic infosec companies operating in California’s Silicon Valley, has chosen Leeside as it looks to develop its presence in Europe. Forescout builds advanced cybersecurity tools for companies in financial services and other sensitive sectors.

Cork woman and UCC graduate Norma O’Callaghan will head up the company’s operations on Leeside and the company will be based in new offices on Penrose Quay. The global cyber security market size was valued at $184.93 billion in 2021

Forescout is also recruiting scores of staff in Europe and has already opened a new central office in London.

The company says their research teams in Ireland and the UK will work on data and analysis at the cutting edge of data-driven security.

Cork has become a European if not global hub in the cybersecurity sector, with many hundreds of jobs created here in recent years by the likes of Keeper and Forcepoint. The arrival of some of the world’s leading firms has led to a hiring boom but also close connections with UCC and MTU, as the companies search for the next generation of talent to bring their businesses forward.

A recent report conducted by Cyber Ireland and Cyber Skills found that Cork holds more cyber security firms than any other county in Ireland.
